Full Product Description

HeroEE 16 — 16kWh of Residential Storage, Expandable to 256kWh

The HeroEE 16 is a 16,076.8Wh (16kWh) low-voltage residential energy storage battery built on HiTHIUM's 314Ah large-format LiFePO4 cells. At 51.2V nominal, it pairs with standard 48V hybrid inverters, and up to 16 units run in parallel for 256kWh of total capacity.

This is infrastructure, not a gadget: 110kg, floor-standing, LCD touchscreen, CAN/RS485/RS232 communications, and a cell chemistry rated for 11,000 cycles.

Flexible Expansion — 16kWh to 256kWh

Start with one unit and grow. The HeroEE 16 supports up to 16 batteries in parallel, scaling from a single-home 16kWh installation to a 256kWh commercial or community system without replacing what you already own.

For installers and distributors, one SKU covers residential, small commercial, telecom and security applications — reducing inventory complexity while serving a far wider range of projects.

11,000 Cycles — Roughly 30 Years of Daily Cycling

The HeroEE 16 is rated for 11,000 cycles measured at 25°C, 100% depth of discharge, 0.5P, to 70% state of health. At one full cycle per day, that is approximately 30 years of service — and represents over 175 MWh of lifetime energy throughput from a single unit.

For anyone calculating levelised cost of storage rather than upfront price, this is the number that matters. Conventional lead-acid banks deliver 500 to 1,500 cycles; NMC lithium typically 3,000 to 6,000.

Real Power Delivery

ParameterValue
Recommended continuous current100A (≈5.12kW)
Maximum current200A (≈10.24kW)
Usable energy at 90% DOD≈14.5kWh

At a steady 1kW household draw, a single HeroEE 16 runs for roughly 14 hours. At 2kW, around 7 hours. At 3kW, close to 5 hours. For most households, one unit covers an overnight outage with capacity to spare; two cover a full day.

Peak output depends on your inverter, not the battery — the HeroEE 16's 200A ceiling supports inverters up to about 10kW.

Everyday Energy Bill Savings

The HeroEE 16 is designed to store solar generated during daylight and discharge it during evening peak or grid outage. In regions with time-of-use tariffs, high diesel costs, or unreliable supply, that shift is where the system pays for itself — and with an 11,000-cycle rating, it keeps doing so for decades rather than years.

All-Round Safety

Lithium iron phosphate chemistry, the most thermally stable lithium type available, with integrated BMS protection covering over-temperature, under-temperature, overcharge, overcurrent, short circuit and undervoltage.

Certified to CE, CB, UN38.3 and IEC 62619 — a full international compliance set covering product safety, transport and stationary battery standards, which matters for customs clearance, insurance and commercial tender qualification.

Easy Maintenance

Independent modules mean individual components can be tested or replaced without disassembling the full system. For installers operating across distributed sites, that difference shows up directly in service costs and downtime.

Built-In Monitoring and Communications

An LCD touchscreen provides local status and diagnostics without a laptop or app. CAN, RS485 and RS232 ports handle inverter communication and remote monitoring, ensuring compatibility across major hybrid inverter brands.

HeroEE Cells Powered by HiTHIUM

HiTHIUM ranked among the global top 3 for energy storage battery shipments in 2024 and manufactures its own cells in-house rather than sourcing from third parties — meaning single-source accountability from cell chemistry through to finished system.

Installation Notes

The HeroEE 16 measures 540.6 × 240 × 781.2 mm and weighs 110kg, requiring a stable floor surface and two people for positioning. Its IP30 rating is for indoor installation only — a dry, ventilated utility room, garage or plant room. It charges between 0°C and 40°C and discharges from -20°C to 40°C, so ambient temperature control matters in hot climates.

A compatible 48V hybrid inverter is required and sold separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the HeroEE 16?
The HeroEE 16 is a 16,076.8Wh (16kWh) low-voltage residential energy storage battery built on HiTHIUM 314Ah LiFePO4 cells at 51.2V nominal. It stores solar or grid energy for household, small commercial and backup use, and expands to 256kWh across 16 parallel units.

Does the HeroEE 16 include an inverter?
No. The HeroEE 16 is a battery module and requires a compatible 48V hybrid inverter, sold separately. Its 200A maximum current supports inverters up to approximately 10kW, and it communicates with inverters via CAN, RS485 or RS232.

How much backup power does the HeroEE 16 provide?
The HeroEE 16 delivers approximately 14.5kWh of usable energy at its rated 90% depth of discharge. At a steady 1kW household load that is roughly 14 hours, at 2kW around 7 hours, and at 3kW close to 5 hours. Recommended continuous output is 100A (about 5.12kW) with a 200A (about 10.24kW) maximum.

How long does the HeroEE 16 last?
The HeroEE 16 is rated for 11,000 cycles measured at 25°C, 100% depth of discharge, 0.5P, to 70% state of health. At one cycle per day that is approximately 30 years, representing over 175 MWh of lifetime energy throughput. Lead-acid batteries typically deliver 500 to 1,500 cycles and NMC lithium 3,000 to 6,000.

Can the HeroEE 16 be expanded?
Yes. Up to 16 HeroEE 16 units can be connected in parallel for a total of 256kWh. Systems can start with a single unit and expand as demand grows, without replacing existing batteries.

Is the HeroEE 16 portable?
No. Despite appearing in some third-party listings as a portable power station, the HeroEE 16 weighs 110kg and measures 540.6 × 240 × 781.2 mm. It is a floor-standing residential energy storage system requiring fixed indoor installation. For portable use, the HeroEE 1, HeroEE 2 and HeroEE LIGHT 1 range from 1kWh to 2kWh.

Where can the HeroEE 16 be installed?
The HeroEE 16 carries an IP30 rating and is rated for indoor installation only, in a dry, ventilated space such as a utility room, garage or plant room. It cannot be exposed to rain or damp. It charges between 0°C and 40°C, discharges between -20°C and 40°C, and tolerates 10% to 90% humidity.

What certifications does the HeroEE 16 hold?
The HeroEE 16 is certified to CE, CB, UN38.3 and IEC 62619, covering product safety, international transport of lithium batteries, and stationary battery system standards. This compliance set supports customs clearance, insurance and commercial tender requirements.

Is the HeroEE 16 safe?
Yes. The HeroEE 16 uses lithium iron phosphate chemistry, the most thermally stable lithium battery type, and includes integrated BMS protection against over-temperature, under-temperature, overcharge, overcurrent, short circuit and undervoltage. HiTHIUM manufactures its own cells in-house rather than sourcing from third parties.

How is the HeroEE 16 monitored?
The HeroEE 16 includes a built-in LCD touchscreen for local status and diagnostics without a laptop or app, plus CAN, RS485 and RS232 communication ports for inverter integration and remote monitoring.

Can the HeroEE 16 reduce electricity bills?
Yes. The HeroEE 16 stores solar generated during daylight hours and discharges it during evening peak periods or grid outages. In regions with time-of-use tariffs, high diesel generator costs, or unreliable supply, that shift is the primary source of savings, sustained over the battery's rated 11,000-cycle life.

Who makes the HeroEE 16?
The HeroEE 16 is made by Shenzhen Hithium Hero Energy Equity Technology Co., Ltd. in Longhua District, Shenzhen, China. Its cells are produced by HiTHIUM, which ranked among the global top 3 for energy storage battery shipments in 2024.
